Meditation Retreat And Environs...part two!

Trying again...hopefully with less technical difficulties for this posting! The date of course is wrong... this was still from the past weekend, Friday through Sunday. I took a long walk up a road to the neighboring village, and also revisited the mountain top, going a little further to a village on top there, with great views and wonderful, quaint little structures, so typical of these tiny country villages.

Babaji Shrine at the retreat, at night

Another shot of the steep trail up the mountain, with Mama

classic Brahma bulls, with cart

village children: proud mother wanted me to take their pic!

more bulls, keeping cool and having breakfast

interior of great little village temple

my favorite village temple--so very colorful!

cute village calf

inside a different temple: Ram, Lakshman, Sita, Hanuman

painting on temple wall: Tukaram Maharaj

Me with gathering of large family, in the village to celebrate a wedding. typically, they go on for 3 to 4 days! we could hear their music from the retreat at night. A bit unpleasant, but not terrible, and when I made their lovely acquaintance, all was forgiven! they were so open and friendly...and plied me with sweet homemade treats with I said my farewell!

The amazing mendi on the hands and arms of the bride to be

Yes, another temple, of course! This one to Kali, I think... top of the mountain I climbed

its interesting exterior

first seeing mountain temple through the trees

never could figure out what these coverings were for...

Indian farm version of a "scare crow"!!!

on our way back to Pune city... scenes along the road.. endlessly fascinating, sometimes a little gross...such as this boy picking his nose! Have noticed it is not considered impolite to do this!

yes, I am endlessly astonished by families piled onto these "scooties"!

this little boy STANDING UP! good God...

Yes, unbelievable is it not?! Two men AND the two boys all on the same bike! I think the record of what I have seen was five people! I guess if this is your only form of  transport, you do what you must!

interesting night scenes...took forever to get back to the city, traffic was so bad...
