LAST DAYS, PART 5: THE JOY OF SEQUESTERING AND BEING CREATIVE!

Sketching! 

 What a delight this has been... whiling away the long hours of lock down, busily being creative with a medium I hadn't touched in many decades. 

 This is definitely one VERY positive side effect of being sequestered for so many weeks! (As you will see, I have two favorite subjects: animals and colorful scenery--the places I would love to be right about now!)

    Love these drawings, Sheri! Hope you continue sketching throughout the rest of your travel adventures; you're really onto something here. As beautiful as photographs can be, there's something about artwork made during a trip that just brings back so many different and deeper kinds of memories. Glad you found something both creative and fun to do. (P.S. The puppy is such a cutie I think he should become your brand logo!!)

Wow. I am actually here. The fuzz-brained feeling of jet lag has finally worn off and my senses are reeling from overload. I think of this city as the Indian version of New York; the incessant noise, throngs of people, traffic beyond belief. I can never get over the casualness with which pedestrians invite a seemingly certain death by strolling through endless gridlock, within inches of bumpers, heedless of honking horns or barreling buses. Life in the Ashram, Five: "Look Ma, No Hair!" (or, "How To Beat The Indian Heat!")

Yes, my friends, this is really me! I vacillated for awhile, to be sure...but witnessing man after man in the ashram shaving their heads over the past few days, I felt impelled to follow suit. The hot season is upon us, and you would have to experience the heat and humidity here to truly understand why it drives anyone sane to such extremes! Also, the fact that it was not beautiful. I have colored my hair with henna for years, but now with the lockdown it is is not accessible,  and the contrast of the new growth of gray hair against the old henna-ed red hair was strange,  to say the least.  Plus, so much was broken off and getting in my face, especially every time I would be next to or underneath a fan. I was constantly and incessantly brushing wisps of hair out of my face....it would stick to my forehead and poke in my eyes and so forth. The scrunchies I used? They just wouldn't cut it.
